If not now, when? The Erasmus+ Programme offers exclusive travel possibilities dedicated not only to students but also to other age groups. The three key actions that will be mentioned help to identify opportunities that could be more interesting for potential participants, from either educational institutions or organisations.

The key actions

The first key action focuses on the learning mobility of individuals. It includes exchanges for students, teachers, staff from educational institutions, trainers, youth workers and, from 2023, also for sports coaches. The most traditional type of mobility is when a student spends some time studying at a different school and based on this experience brings new knowledge back home. Sharing this information with teachers improves the way education is provided at home institutions. Regarding youth, medium-size grants can be delivered to initiatives when a group of people come up with ideas and wants to put them into practice at a local level.

Furthermore, there is a part of Erasmus+ called DiscoverEU. This initiative grants youngsters from member states who have already turned eighteen years old some train tickets for traveling across Europe. It aims to engage them to learn new things during the time of the trip. In fact, more than 165 thousand youngsters have been awarded a travel pass since the first application round in June 2018. Another round will be held between 11 October and 25 October.

The second key action is cooperation among organisations and institutions. It must be mentioned that this partnership does not have to be between two organisations and institutions of the same type (e.g. not only school and school partnership).

Last but not least, the third key action is the support to policy development and cooperation at the European Union level. This contributes to developing new policies in connection with modernisation and reforms in education, training and sport.

Goals of the Erasmus+ Programme

For the future, the main priorities are offering a more inclusive and accessible programme, making Erasmus+ more environmentally sustainable, promoting the use of digital tools and the development of digital skills, and finally, enhancing active participation in the programme and in society as a whole.

In addition, if you want to join the celebration of the Erasmus+ Programme called Erasmus Days taking place between 13 October and 15 October, a useful tool to find events around you exists. There is an interactive map on Erasmus Days' official site showing all sessions and some basic information about the event.
