Blue Economy and Research in Sicily - IDMAR: Europe's Largest Submarine Telescope

Idmar research infrastructure, made up of terrestrial and underwater nodes, is strategic for economic and social growth of Sicily and the largest multidisciplinary lab for marine scientific and technological research in Europe. Its total amount is EUR 40 million, 19 of which is financed by ERDF OP. The project is part of S3 (Strategy for innovation and smart specialisation) and aims to monitor the marine environment in real time, which is completely new in the whole Mediterranean.
