Tasting traditions: exploring the right to stay through culinary heritage and regional identity in Thuringia

The Thuringian and Eichsfeld Sausage and Meat Association proposes a tasting session to showcase Thuringia’s EU-protected regional products: smong others, Thuringian Rostbratwurst (intangible UNESCO Cultural Heritage of Humanity), liver sausage, blood sausage, and the Eichsfelder Feldgieker sausage. Thuringian food culture reflects centuries of craftsmanship, regional pride and sustainable agriculture. These products are more than food. They connect generations, attract tourism and support the “right to stay” by creating rural jobs and identity. The session will highlight how local traditions strengthen cohesion, tackle disparities and offer sustainable opportunities for Europe’s regions.
