Stephan König

  • Born on April 19, 1977, in Erfurt, Thuringia, Stephan König has built a distinguished career in the Thuringian state administration. Since December 2024, he has been serving as the Thuringian State Secretary for Media and European Affairs and Plenipotentiary of the Free State of Thuringia to the Federal Government at the Thuringian State Chancellery. He began his civil service career in 2004 at the Thuringian Ministry of the Interior and subsequently held positions of responsibility across several ministries, including Justice, Finance, and the State Chancellery. His career has been marked by leadership roles in administrative modernization, human resources and organizational management, and regulatory control. Over the years, he has served as Head of several divisions, including Human Resources, Administrative Modernization, and Legal Affairs, and has acted as Deputy Head of Department 1 – Central Services / Modern Administration. In 2023, he took over Division 15 – Modern Administration and the Secretariat of the Regulatory Control Council. With more than two decades of experience in state administration, he combines expertise in legal and administrative matters with a strong focus on modernizing public services and ensuring effective governance.
