Metacity aims to make small and medium-size tech-aware cities more competitive, benefiting from the opportunity to enhance service efficiency and public satisfaction provided by the metaverse, AI and other tech. By integrating metaverse technologies, cities can create immersive digital environments for education, healthcare, tourism and public services, enabling streamlined communication, remote access to services and personalised experiences, leveling the playing field with larger cities. Partners have been developing small-scale actions in the areas of education, urban planning and services as part of our URBACT network and will showcase these results and our planned actions in a stand.

Metacity is shaping the next generation of tech-aware small and medium-sized cities, exploring how AI, metaverse technologies, and digital innovation can transform urban life. From immersive tools for education and healthcare to digital solutions for governance and participation, the network demonstrates how smaller cities can lead Europe’s smart and inclusive digital transition.
At the Metacity stand, partners showcased the results of their local testing actions, highlighting concrete ways to integrate immersive and AI-driven tools into daily urban management. The event attracted great attention from visitors, policymakers, and researchers, confirming that the future of digital innovation is not only in big cities — it’s happening across Europe’s territories of all sizes.

Wonderfully fun that our booth generated so much enthusiasm and exiting meetings! For a smaller town like Härnösand, development needs to occur by learning from others, sharing experiences in project form to drive progress forward.
A great opportunity to show the technological development of our city!
