  • Dermot Lacey has been a Labour Party Dublin City Councillor since 1993. He has served as Chairperson of the Housing Strategic Policy Committee (SPC), Arts and Sports SPC, the Finance SPC, the Housing SPC and the Protocol Committee and several off shoots of that Committee. He is currently for the sixth year in a row Chairperson of the South East Area Committee. He served as Lord Mayor of Dublin 2002-2003 and uniquely has been Cathaoirleach (Chairperson) of the Southern and Eastern Regional Assembly, the Eastern and Midlands Regional Assembly and the former Dublin Regional Authority. Dermot has also been a member of the Dublin Docklands Authority, the University College Dublin Governing Authority for two terms and the Board of An FAS and a member of many local, regional and national bodies. Long an advocate for Local Government Reform, he has published proposals for the future Regional governance of Dublin - in "A Fair City - One Dublin Many Dubliners" and articles for many publications.
