European Week of Regions and Cities

Joint Research Centre: EU regional statistics explained

Overall, the European population is declining and ageing, but the demographic transition does not affect all regions in the same way. The Joint Research Centre provides a wealth of data and policy insights at the regional, sub-regional and local level, helping local decision-makers design effective place-based policies. The stand will offer an interactive display of JRC territorial development data platforms, alongside the new Atlas of Demography. A guided, hands-on exploration of dynamic data visualisations will paint a full picture of Europe’s socio-economic landscape, from fertility and life expectancy, to sustainable development and regional interactions across national borders.
