- Jean-Pierre Halkin is working in DG REGIO since 2017 and he is fully committed to the Cooperation objective of Regional and Urban policy. He is currently heading the Unit D.2 Interreg, Cross-Border Cooperation, Internal Borders” following his previous appointment (2017-2022) as Head of the Competence Centre for "Macro-regions, Transnational, Interregional and External Cooperation, Enlargement”. The Unit D.2 manages more than 50 Interreg programmes covering all EU Internal Borders and the EU Borders with Andorra, Norway and Switzerland. Prior to this, Jean-Pierre Halkin worked mostly in the "External Relations family" was notably posted in Côte d'Ivoire and Liberia.
