- Tanya Hristova is Mayor of Gabrovo, Bulgaria, a position she has held since 2011. With a background in English Philology and Finance, she has extensive experience in European affairs and local governance. Since 2012, she has been an active member of the European Committee of the Regions, where she currently serves as First Vice-Chair of the SEDEC Commission and is head of the Bulgarian delegation.
Mayor Hristova is recognized for her active role in advancing sustainable urban development, energy transition, innovation, and youth participation at the local and European levels. Under her leadership, Gabrovo has become a frontrunner in energy efficiency, circular economy initiatives, and cultural transformation. She also chairs the national EcoEnergy network and is a Board member of Energy Cities.
Her work reflects a strong commitment to bridging local priorities with the EU agenda, promoting resilient, inclusive, and climate-neutral cities.
