- RICARDO RIO was born in 1972, he is married and father of three daughters. He graduated in Economics at the Faculty of Economics of Porto (FEP), and, before the public service, he was University Professor and Advisor of several public and business companies.
In 2013 he was elected Mayor of Braga and was re-elected in 2017 and 2021.
He is also Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Global Parliament of Mayors, Chairman of the Executive Council of the Intermunicipal Community of Cávado, and chairs the Boards of the municipal companies Faz Cultura, InvestBraga, and Pentágono Urbano.
He is a member of the Executive Committee of Eurocities, a member of the Committee of the Regions, where he is Vice-President of the EPP Group, and since 2016, he has also been one of the OECD's Champion Mayors for Inclusive Growth, serving on the network's Steering Group, and member of the board of ATP - Porto Tourism Association.
