Daniel Sazonov

  • Daniel Sazonov is the Mayor of Helsinki and a 32-year-old Master of Laws graduate from the University of Helsinki. Before assuming the role of mayor, Mr. Sazonov served as Deputy Mayor of Helsinki, responsible for health care, social services, and rescue services. He has been a member of the Helsinki City Council since 2017 and has served on the Helsinki City Board since 2018, currently acting as its chair. As Mayor, Mr. Sazonov is dedicated to shaping Helsinki into a welcoming and bold city that effectively serves the varying needs of its residents and offers the conditions for the best possible urban life. Under his leadership, the city launched a new strategy in June 2025 titled “A Helsinki We Can Be Proud Of”. A key mission of Mr. Sazonov is ensuring Helsinki remains an international, vibrant and livable city for residents, businesses, and visitors alike. His key priorities include driving economic growth and initiating ambitious urban development projects, reducing inequality and promoting social inclusion.
