European Week of Regions and Cities

Circular sanitation - Why and how can cities and regions close nutrient loops?

What are nutrient cycles? Why is it crucial for the health, the environment, and the economy of our cities and regions? What are the issues with the current sanitation system? In this session, we will introduce the concept of circular sanitation and will show the concrete benefits of closing nitrogen and phosphorus. Using examples from all over Europe, we will present policies and concrete actions that local and regional authorities can implement to make circular sanitation a reality. Featuring experts and practitioners, this session will be interactive and will focus on practical solutions. It will build on results from the P2GreeN project, funded by Horizon Europe.
