CARMEN GARCIA SANCHEZ

  • Researcher, University of Copenhagen
  • Dr Carmen García Sánchez holds a Master's degree and a PhD in Advanced Architectural Design. She is an experienced practising architect with an office in Madrid. She combines her architectural practice with her role as an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Madrid and as an Affiliated Researcher at the Danish National Research Foundation Centre for Privacy Studies at the University of Copenhagen. In addition, she serves as an external scientific expert and consultant for the European Commission, including the New European Bauhaus. Her study Nature-In, fully funded by a Marie Skłodowska-Curie individual research grant from the European Commission, provides a catalogue of potential sustainable practical design strategies and recommendations for implementing nature-inclusive architectural resources into building practice. She has experience teaching architectural theory and design, including biophilic design, at various international institutions. Through linking research to practice, she aims to contribute to the development of small-scale nature-based solutions and architecture that promote health and well-being in a sustainable way.
