- Wies Ettema is a policymaker in the Housing Department of the City of The Hague, working to make the existing housing stock more sustainable. Her work focuses on encouraging and enabling different types of homeowners - private owners, housing associations, and landlords - to improve the energy performance of their properties. This includes designing and implementing subsidy schemes, voucher programs, sustainability loans and tenders with market partners for insulation initiatives. She also negotiates binding performance agreements with housing associations to improve and decarbonise the city’s social housing stock.
