Climate governance in the Mediterranean Regions for sustainable growth

The European Climate Risk Assessment confirms Southern Europe faces greater climate pressures, worsening regional disparities in adaptation, risk prevention and preparedness. Regions like Calabria, Andalucía, Marche and Abruzzo are already dealing with extreme heat, water scarcity and hydrogeological risks. This growing vulnerability impacts EU Cohesion Policy and highlights the need for stronger multi-level governance, targeted investment and active exchange of good practices. Enhanced regional cooperation is essential to boost resilience, reduce inequalities and ensure long-term, sustainable growth. The partnership aims to contribute ahead of the new EU leadership and post-2027 MFF.
