Session summary
This session, conducted in partnership between the European Urban Initiative and the World Bank, aimed to enhance the understanding and practical application of multi-level cooperation within Functional Urban Areas. Participants were introduced to the Land Suitability Analysis: a tool that can make the multi-level stakeholders discussion and decision-making to a common and objective ground; hence resulting in improving the governance across Functional Urban Areas.
The participants equally discovered a practical result of working with Land Suitability Analysis: the impressive Constanta urban regeneration project, which was presented in avant premiere by the real estate company that developed it (Iulius). This project started when, as a result of the Land Suitability Analysis, a large brownfield was identified as having a huge potential due to its location.
Cities and Functional Urban Areas around Europe that wish to discover more about the Land Suitability Analysis and see how others make good use of it, can apply for City-to-City Exchanges with the European Urban Initiative. Applications are possible throughout the year – continuously open call.
