European Week of Regions and Cities

Closing session of the EURegionsWeek with Commissioner Elisa Ferreira & reception

The closing session of the EURegionsWeek represents an opportunity to hear Commissioner Ferreira reflect on her term as Commissioner and take stock of the enduring relevance of cohesion policy. During her mandate, Cohesion policy rose to existential challenges, the Cohesion fund turned 30 and the EU celebrated 20 years since the last enlargement. It will be a time to look back at the significant achievements of cohesion policy in fostering regional development and reducing disparities. This high-level session will showcase how competitiveness and convergence coexist and reinforce each other. The message is clear: Cohesion policy remains relevant and can foster cohesion and competitiveness simultaneously, as one cannot thrive without the other. This also remains key for the future of European regional and urban investments.
