#EURegionsWeek 2018 officially opened

 Opening Session of the 16th European Week of Regions and Cities

The #EURegionsWeek 2018 was officially inaugurated on Monday afternoon with an Opening Session including Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission, Corina Crețu, Commissioner for regional policy, Karl-Heinz Lambertz, President of the European Committee of the Regions and Pavel Telička Vice-President of the European Parliament.

The panellists were discussing the main topics of the #EURegionsWeek in an interactive way, with interventions made by European Committee of the Regions members: Catiuscia Marini, President of Umbria Region (IT, PES), Michael Schneider, State Secretary, Representative of the Land of Saxony-Anhalt to the Federal Government (DE, EPP), Ulrika Carlefall Landergren, Member of Kungsbacka Municipal Council (SE, ALDE); Roberto Ciambetti, President and Member of the Veneto Regional Council (IT, EA); and Roberto Ciambetti, President and Member of the Veneto Regional Council (IT, ECR); among others.

The 6th edition of the EURegionsWeek Master Class programme also kicked off, as 30 PhD students and early career researchers gathered to present their research in the field of regional and urban policy and to exchange views and network with policy makers, EU officials and senior academics. Throughout the week, the Master Class participants will discuss recent research on European regional and urban development and EU Cohesion policy. Pictures available here
