YOUTH 4 OUTERMOST REGIONS – Empowering young changemakers for inclusive development. Co-funded by DG REGIO under the 2022 Outermost Regions Strategy, this project supports 70 youth-led actions across these regions, where young people face higher levels of unemployment, early school leaving, and NEET rates. At its final event, selected beneficiaries will showcase their impact, and the project team will share policy recommendations to boost youth participation in EU policymaking. Based on a consultation process with young people, these insights contribute to the Youth Policy Dialogues and to the upcoming update of the EU Strategy for Outermost Regions. This will be a hybrid event.

Session summary
Projects like YOUTH 4 OUTERMOST REGIONS, which place young people’s ideas and actions at centre stage, make an important contribution to answering their call for meaningful participation. They also serve as living proof that young people are deeply attuned to the needs of their territories — and fully capable of proposing and delivering solutions that make a difference.
However, we must recognise one simple truth: youth participation will never truly take root if it remains an occasional initiative. It must become part of the EU’s public infrastructure — financed, guaranteed, and embedded in the places where young people live and shape their futures.
YOUTH 4 OUTERMOST REGIONS is a meaningful step in that direction.
