Bridging Urban and Rural: Hungary’s New Functional Urban Area Model

The stand presents Hungary’s newly established, functional urban area-based approach to better connect urban and rural areas in its development policy. The Veszprém-Székesfehérvár Functional Urban Area model, integrating cities with surrounding rural regions to achieve balanced territorial development, coordinated by the Hungarian Territorial Development Service, will be showcased. The Service of the Order of Malta’s social integration programme, focusing on local communities through early childhood development, education, social housing, renewables and economic initiatives with socially innovative, result-oriented solutions and EU-level cooperation, will also be represented.
