- Stefania Proietti is an experienced Italian politician and public leader, currently serving as President of the Umbria Region since November 2024 and as Regional Minister for Health. Prior to this role, she was Mayor of Assisi for ten years, leading one of Italy’s most internationally renowned cities with a strong focus on sustainability, cultural heritage, and social innovation. She is also a Member of the European Committee of the Regions, where she actively contributes to shaping EU policies for regional development.
Alongside her political career, Stefania Proietti has a strong academic and technical background. She holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and has served as an Associate Professor at the Università degli Studi Guglielmo Marconi in Rome. Her expertise spans climate change mitigation, renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable development. She has collaborated with international organisations such as the Asian Development Bank and contributed to numerous scientific projects and publications in the field of environmental sustainability.
