Border Focal Point

The 40 internal land border regions of the European Union (EU) are economically weaker than their national averages. For this reason, a Border Focal Point was established within the European Commission’s DG REGIO to provide support to cross-border cooperation complementing Interreg. Its work includes actions of a political, technical, and legal nature. Among other projects, it supports networking among cooperation experts and carries out specialised studies. Its b-solutions initiative aims to tackle obstacles along borders and support cross-border cooperation.
