European Week of Regions and Cities

Strengthening the competitiveness of European regions through STEP

The Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform was launched to reinforce Europe’s competitiveness and reduce strategic dependencies by increasing investments in critical technologies and innovation capacities. Cohesion Policy is a major contributor to STEP objectives. This interactive workshop will explore how STEP can help regions strengthen their competitiveness in the three STEP sectors and the benefits of the STEP Seal for investors, and will discuss the expansion of STEP to a 4th sector - defence - based on the Cohesion mid-term review. STEP is key for modernising Cohesion Policy and making a stronger contribution to the future and competitiveness of the EU's territories.
