European Week of Regions and Cities

Integrated territorial development for a stronger future for European rural communities

The impact of ageing and demographic imbalances is disproportionately felt in European rural areas, threatening social and territorial cohesion and undermining the potential of these regions. In the context of the Long-Term Vision for Rural Areas and the Rural Pact, this session will reflect on the use of the integrated territorial approach and the use of their instruments (ITI/CLLD/OTT) in supporting a stronger future for European rural communities. The workshop will provide relevant trends and policy insights developed by the JRC, along with feedback from practitioners helping to strengthen economic, social and territorial cohesion.
