This session will show how Renewable Energy Communities (RECs), supported by digital and data-driven tools and services, can unlock renewable energy, savings and flexibility in urban and rural areas, ensuring no one is left behind in the green transition. Frontrunner pilots from Austria, Portugal and Ireland will showcase innovative services with high potential for upscaling across Europe. We will discuss policy and regulatory aspects including peer-to-peer trading, energy sharing, demand-side flexibility and vehicle-to-grid charging, linking these to broader EU policy trends including the Citizen Energy Package and electricity market reform.
