• Elisa Ferreira, a Portuguese economist, has been the European Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms since 2019. She is responsible for policies supporting regions affected by climate and digital transitions, including overseeing the Just Transition Fund. Ferreira has a PhD from the University of Reading and served in the European Parliament (2004–2016) and as Vice-Governor of the Bank of Portugal. She was also Portugal's Minister for the Environment and Planning.
