This workshop explores the pivotal role of Local Intermediate Authorities (LIAs/Provinces) in transforming rural areas into dynamic hubs of innovation and growth. Often perceived as peripheral, sparsely populated areas are, in fact, rich in untapped potential. LIAs bridge the gap between local communities and higher levels of government, facilitating tailored development strategies that resonate with local needs and aspirations. Participants will gain insights into how LIAs can leverage EU resources, foster innovation and create sustainable development models that position rural areas as vibrant centres of opportunity in line with the “Right to stay” and community-led local development.
