Housing affordability crisis in European cities and regions: from data to policy insights and financial instruments

The housing affordability crisis is affecting more and more European households, threatening social cohesion and weakening our economy. This session will showcase relevant data covering the economic and demographic elements of housing affordability and share policy insights from the European Observation Network for Territorial Development and Cohesion – ESPON and the European Commission’s Joint research Centre, while the Directorate-General for Regional policies of the Commission will present the Model Financial Instruments for Affordable Housing. The European Commission’s Task Force for Housing will chair the session and shed light on the upcoming affordability housing plan.
